Do we need to bring our own witnesses?

No, Elope Cape Town can provide two witnesses for you (required by law). Couples opting for a true elopement – that is, just the two of them, often ask us to step in with signatures and we’re more than happy to do so.

Can you help us decide on a location or venue?

The short answer: Yes. Some of our packages include venue scouting and selection. However, our smaller Collections do not include this service because the intention behind them is for the couple to select the location or venue, and for our Creatives to come to the chosen spot to get you two married!

Elope Cape Town has a wealth of experience with lookout points in the great outdoors as well as insight into the Western Cape’s lesser-known beautiful venues. Nevertheless, deciding what location or venue to go with is such a personal choice which means it often takes a lot of time and effort to narrow the options down to your ideal location. Due to this, we now charge couples for location hunting (other than what is built in to our Collections – for example, our Quintessential Elopement comes with two suggestions for a ceremony spot, but anything above and beyond that will involve an additional fee).

How do we secure a date?

To secure your date, we ask for our co-founder and planner extraordinaire, Lindi to be paid in full. Once this payment is made, Lindi will liaise with you and the other vendors regarding payment and ensure the process is a seamless one.

We’re foreigners, do you suggest we get married at home and save the ceremony and celebration for South Africa?

It’s a completely personal choice. Some couples choose to take care of the legalities at home because they decide it’ll be easier (and cheaper) that way. And so, they save the celebration for South Africa, with the peace of mind that all the paperwork has already been handled. Other couples don’t want to separate the paperwork and the ceremony. We understand this. If you want us to handle the legalities, our marriage officer will talk to you about the documents we’ll need to make it official and also about your options with regards to the unabridged marriage certificate and, if necessary, getting that certificate apostilled.

If one of you is a foreigner and the other a South African, please read this blog.

If you are both foreigners, please read this blog.

Are your elopements only Cape Town-based?

Most, yes. That includes, to name a few, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch; Elgin; Scarborough; Hermanus; Pringle Bay… We are, however, not opposed to a road trip or a flight. If you have an incredible adventure in mind, we’re all ears. We do, however, take into consideration that getting all our Creatives to travel long distances bumps up the overall cost and so we try to keep our elopements close to Cape Town. Since the city and its surrounds have so much to offer, we rarely have to travel far to create magic.
